Statement
My work focuses on creating functional ceramics designed for daily use in the home. By working with stoneware, I craft utilitarian pieces that seamlessly integrate into everyday routines, embodying both beauty and practicality.
Inspired by early Japanese pottery and the natural world, my surfaces reflect the cycles of nature—weathered earth tones and fiery oranges evoke the changing seasons. Atmospheric firing techniques allow me to achieve these organic textures and colors, connecting my pieces to the environment that inspires them.
At the heart of my practice is the desire to create timeless and personal art. Each piece carries the essence of human touch, offering a sense of warmth and awe as it becomes part of a household’s daily life. The notion that these objects, made from the earth itself, can serve families for generations drives my passion for ceramics.
My academic journey has been deeply shaped by inspiring mentors and a supportive community, reminding me that art is never a solitary endeavor. Collaboration and connection are integral to my practice, as I strive to build meaningful relationships with those who engage with my work.
The relationships I cultivate with those who use my work are as significant as the pieces themselves.
